An architect who graduated from the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in Paris, he was CEO of Groupe-6 from 1996 to 2006. His early years after graduating were marked by a stay in Morocco, where he was director of studies for the creation of facilities in villages in the pre-Saharan valleys using self-build methods, carried out research into earth concretes and took part in the programme to reduce shanty towns in Rabat. On his return to France, he became a partner in a Grenoble-based architectural practice, which was renamed Groupe-6 in 1970. Initially, he worked on a number of regional projects, consolidating the firm's reputation locally. Along with his five partners, he played an active part in the agency's growth at a national level, particularly through public hospital commissions and the decentralisation policy of the time. He was CEO of Groupe-6 when a major national hospital construction plan was launched in the early 2000s.
