After graduating from the École Nationale Supérieure des Céramiques Industrielles and working for eight years in materials and technology research and development, he became chief engineer for the Citroën C3 phase I platform, before taking responsibility for advanced vehicle concepts for seven years. In 2010, he was appointed head of the Pre-Projects division, before becoming head of research and development in March 2013, and then head of quality and engineering for the PSA Group from 2016 to 2019. In January 2020, he was appointed Director of Engineering at Renault Group and a member of its Executive Committee. He was chairman or vice-chairman of the Comité Technique Automobile (CTA) within the PFA (Plateforme de la filière automobile) for a decade. In 2018 and 2021, he was twice awarded the Eurostar prize by Automotive News Europe in the ‘Best Product Development Executive’ category. He was also named ‘Automotive Man of the Year’ in 2019 by the Journal de l'Automobile, and has won 5 COTY (Car of the Year) awards over an 11-year period.
