EADS’ Innovation Nursery encourages innovative initiatives which are potentially interesting to the Group but which cannot be integrated by the operational units for various reasons : either they do not correspond to a specific unit’s core activity or its priorities at that particular moment; or the initiatives concern several operational units and therefore just one operational unit cannot handle them all. The Nursery is not satisfied with just ‘filtering’ the projects but wants to enrich them by making sure that the technological maturation and the appropriate market approach go hand in hand. Throughout its development, the project is partially financed by the operational unit from which it emerged in order to ease the hand-over once the project is sufficiently mature. The role of the leadership team is to mobilise the various experts in the Group who are able to contribute to the success of the project thanks to their skills which are essential.
