The production of the televised evening news programme requires the presence of efficient processes which make it possible to find information anywhere in the world, select it, put it into perspective, and then translate it into images. It is a challenge which has to be repeated several times each day in situations where time is of the essence. These structural factors are complicated today because of constraints imposed by the existence of a widespread audience and competition from the Internet. This makes the production of the television news programme highly pressurized. Can it remain free from a pre-formatted structure ? Thierry Thuillier thinks that it can : even though the production process is complex, it does not prevent a television channel from creating a television news programme which provides quality information and follows a strong editorial line. It is this demanding treatment of information which is the hallmark of France Télévisions.
