At the end of the 1980s, when the public authorities became interested in Le Cube, the founders of ART3000 debated whether they should become state-run or not. Ten years earlier, ART3000 had been formed by a group of professionals from various cultural sectors who had been faced with the advent of the computer, and met to discuss the upheavals that this caused in their professional lives. They gained a strong following. Those involved were excited and convinced that they were embarking on the discovery of a New World and were taking part in the development of aids for creation and methods of writing. Le Cube was launched in 2001 from an initiative between these pioneers and the town of Issy-les-Moulineaux. It has successfully established itself as a showcase for digital creation, and not only supports creative projects, but also informs and educates the public. The team is now ready to move to the next stage of their project, convinced that/in the conviction that they have helped the digital arts find their appropriate economic position.
