Resorting to consultants is common in an organisation like Renault. The diversity of the consultancy profession as well as the large sums which are involved has led the group to create its own in-house management consultancy division whose objectives are both varied and complementary. The director of this division recounts his experiences and difficulties when confronted with an offer which is both thorough and of varying quality in order to respond to issues which are sometimes badly defined.
