The growth of the major management consultancies and the high turnover of consultants results in a large recruitment of both young and senior consultants. In order to attract and keep good candidates when there is such a shortage, it is essential to assess their motivations and reasons for their choice. As far as Jean-Marie Verdier is concerned, consultants are not only motivated by money, but also by the variety of assignments and the quality of the people with whom they are in contact. He considers that the quality of human relations, the development of a sense of belonging and the monitoring of new recruits constitute the areas where a consultant can make a major contribution.
