Current projects to rationalise what is on offer in the health service in France involves reviewing the geographical distribution and the objectives of a certain number of hospitals. Regional agencies which have been set up recently are directly in charge of the new concept and design of this health chart which brings about new problems of restructuring, movement and social assistance of staff. The restructuring of the Maison Blanche psychiatric hospital at Neuilly-sur-Marne is one of the biggest operations undertaken in the Ile-de-France region. The director of the hospital, Patrick Mordelet, carried out the operation by drawing inspiration from managerial methods applied in companies, with a business plan and a contract outlining the objectives.
