Building digital sovereignty as a matter of urgency is indeed possible!

Sovereignty is traditionally understood as the patient and judicious building of strategic autonomy. For European public and private organisations, it is now a matter of urgency to regain a minimum level of digital sovereignty in the face of the tech giants. By partnering with several European countries, including Germany, and by capitalising in particular on open source and the agility of teams honed through experience in state-backed start-ups, the French Interministerial Directorate for Digital Affairs has succeeded in developing La Suite Numérique, a sovereign, state-of-the-art office suite (word processing, video conferencing, AI, etc.) used on a daily basis by half a million civil servants. In line with an ecosystem-based approach and non-rivalrous investments, this state-secured solution is now available to the European digital ecosystem to enrich it and drive its adoption within businesses. This initiative sets out an ambitious roadmap for all our digital dependencies, from the cloud to AI, including social media.
