There are about a dozen of them working on the reconstruction of Notre-Dame de Paris, in carpentry, woodwork, ironwork, stonework and so on. These are all companies operating in the heritage and luxury sectors, with highly specialised and historic skills, employing highly qualified journeymen... and belonging to the Ateliers de France group. Founded in 1991, the French Group has grown through organic growth and acquisitions. Today, it comprises 56 companies. They operate in a wide range of trades, employ a total of 2,200 journeymen, promote the transfer of skills and integrate their production and their teams in a sector where the major players resort to subcontracting and concentrate on coordination. This is a group like no other, which preserves the independence of its entities, relies on a very light central structure whose managers work on the sites, and designs synergies around shared values.
