The financial world is concerned about the climate! This was unthinkable fifteen years ago, despite a few pioneers. Pressure from clients, regulators, activist groups and reports from the Conference of the Parties (COP) have changed investors' perspectives. They now understand the potential consequences of climate change on their portfolios, and even care about the climate impacts of their investments. ‘Good news’, you may say, but is this really the case? Everything would be simple if we knew how to distinguish between ‘green’ and ‘brown’ activities, and above all how to qualify ‘good transitions’, whereas the boundaries are sometimes blurred and evolving. So how can regulation and standards promote intelligent transitions?
