The French daily press is still influenced by the NMPP (Nouvelles Messageries de la Presse Parisienne) and the Writer’s trade union. Pressures at the trade union contributed over the past few years to financial difficulties in the Parisian press which were impossibility to share its new press with another daily publication, and Le Monde’s policy which was more concerned with the loyalty of its readers than its management results.
