In 1995, the French men’s team won their first major handball title. Since then, having reached twelve international finals and won eleven titles, France has made its mark on the history of the sport throughout the world and is now a formidable force in this sport. From a management point of view, this lengthy domination seems almost unbelievable because high-level competition is a question of attention to detail, and group sport is a question of a subtle interplay between very different individuals and is, by nature, cyclical. This group story has been written by several generations of players and trainers which in the end has made it more than a story about a winning machine, but one of a machine capable of transcending individual talents and making the very best of a good team.
