Because there is a demand for jobs, public subsidies for local services should be considered. However, the use of public subsidy is expensive, complex and not very efficient. It would be important to recognise two types of services : those which correspond to local authority obligations– they may be subsidised without loss of quality – and those which go beyond this – the habit of looking for subsidies which may compromise their development by suppressing the ideas of those who try to obtain them.
